New Live Client Project: Meeting 1 (6.10.09)

So, Chris discovered a new potential artists to be our client for the project. One of them is called Percy Dread and he was one of the lead singers for a big UK reggae band by the name of The Naturalites (or Natural-Ites), that debuted in the 80s. He has a new single out and is located in Nottingham. Another, called Notts Dub, is also a local dub/reggae artist and has a website dedicated to connecting people in the industry. Before we attempted to contact them, we produced an initial proposal to make sure we were clear in telling them what the project would be like.

I will be producing and directing this project. Chris' roles are editor and cameraman.

Draft Proposal:

What:

- Final year project for Nottingham Trent University students

- Promotional DVD for local reggae band/artist containing a music video, "rockumentary", and live recording

- Free service to be distributed as the client pleases

- Local reggae band/artist (Percy Dread, Notts Dub)

When:

- November '09 - May '10

- First part: documentary, Second part: live recording, Third part: music video

Where:

- Nottingham and Gig Locations

- Streets, various buildings, etc.

How:

- "Get to know the band behind the music"

Why:

- Music: Passionate about music (especially reggae) and wanted to undertake a project that involved something we were both very interested in

- Skills: Project will allow for me to further explore music the musical side of the AV pathway and will also show my ability to produce and direct diverse projects

- Usefull: It is an effective promotional tool for the band at no cost and would provide and entertaining and interactive medium through which viewers would have a chance to get to know and understand the band

- Local: Will reduce costs, increase the ability to cooperate, and will be more relevant as we live in the area.
