Artefact 1 - Aim & Plan

The aim of the first Audiovisual Therapy artefact will be to take the viewer on a journey from the city to a quiet place in nature. The purpose of this will be to create slight anxiety in the viewer before producing a calmer state.

In order to simulate the anxiety felt in a busy city, the first section of the clip will contain fast cuts and people rushing around with a greatly increased speed. These shots will be obtained by filming around Nottingham city centre.

The second section, containing the natural setting, will contain calming movements such as dissolves and pans. Due to time constraints and the fact that it's winter, it will be shot in Nottingham's Arboretum, which is the closest place that has a large area grass and plant life.

Once the piece is edited, I will conduct the study in the university's TV studio. This will ensure reliable results due to controlling the variables. With everyone watching the same clip on the same computer in a room without distractions, it is more likely that the results will be consistent.
