"Elements of the Past" Music Video Outline

We have decided, along with Lenroy Guiste, that the song that we will create a music video for will be the fourth track on his new album Roots, Rock, Dub, entitled "Elements of the Past." This track is a gritty track with a bouncy, deep bassline. We feel as though this style would be best suited for for the music video as it is representative of the dub genre. Here is the first draft outline for the visual elements of the video:
  • Shots of Lenny silhouetted in a pitch black studio surrounded by smoke
  • Different colors of light used behind him (green, yellow, red)
  • Closeups of him playing the bass
  • Closeups of equipment (speakers, mixing desk, etc.)
  • Shots of Nottingham city and street signs
The reason for these aspects are to give the video an entertaining and visually stimulating experience. The image of him silhouetted will portray Guiste as an icon and will add an element of mystery, which is appropriate considering there are no lyrics to the track. Using green, yellow, and red lighting will add to the Rastafarian theme that surrounds dub and reggae music and will also provide a more interesting visual experience. Additionally, since Lenny has strong feelings for the city of Nottingham and wants to give it some exposure, the shots of buildings and street signs around the city will help the viewer to identify where the music video is being shot and where Lenny is from. Finally, the closeups of the equipment will portray Lenny's passion for music.
